Running a 50/50 at a game or event
- Print tickets with a clear number range for each seller.
- Sell from the gates until a set time, such as halftime or the last song.
- Count the takings with a second person and announce the pot.
- Draw a stub, read the number twice, and pay half the pot to the holder of the matching ticket.
Small details that matter
- Put the draw time on the ticket so buyers know when to listen.
- Use the fine print line for how the winner is paid or how long they have to claim.
- Check your local rules: some places treat 50/50 draws differently from prize raffles.
Questions
How does a 50/50 raffle work?
Every ticket sold adds to the pot. At the draw, one stub is pulled and that ticket holder wins half of the money collected; the organizers keep the other half. The prize grows with every sale, which is why it works well at games and events.
How do I price 50/50 tickets?
Small amounts and bundles: $1 each or 6 for $5, or $2 each and 3 for $5. Bundles grow the pot faster, and a bigger pot sells more tickets.
How do I keep a 50/50 draw fair?
Count the money with two people present, announce the pot total before the draw, draw a stub in public and read the number out loud. Keep the stubs and the count until the prize has been paid.
Do I need a permit to hold a raffle?
It depends on where you are. Raffle and lottery rules differ by country, state and city, and some places require a permit or limit who may run one. Check with your local authority before you sell tickets. See how to run a raffle.
What goes on the stub?
The ticket number, always, plus write-in lines you choose: name, phone, email and address. The buyer keeps the ticket; you keep the stub in the draw box. A dashed line marks where to tear or cut.
Is it really free?
Yes. Up to 50 numbered tickets per PDF, every free colour theme, stubs, every layout, PDF download and printing are free, with no account. Free pages carry one small line at the bottom saying where they were made.
